I have used this stamp from Inkadinkadoo, a few different ways and think he is always beautiful. This is a Technique Junkie technique, Over and Under, I believe. Rudolph was embossed with Bridal Tinsel embossing powder, which you can't really see in the picture. After playing around with this embossing powder the effect you get of actually over heating it, is awesome. The background is monostamped and spritzed with perfect pearls for a little glow.

A few more Christmas cards I finished and am getting ready to put in the mail. All easy and postage friendly. The stamps are from Pink Paislee and Club Scrap along with a Club Scrap stencil. I usually make about 50 cards to mail, so keeping the designs simple are a must, plus to be honest, I tend to get a little bored.
As is usual, I didn't get nearly the holiday crafting done that I had hoped. Perhaps next year...

I have done the Tim Holtz 12 days of Christmas tags for the past couple of years and still had many squirreled away. If you look at my previous post, you will see how I was inspired to use some of these tags to turn them into small hangers for gifts.
The tags themselves were not all that wonderful, a practice of technique I would say. But rather than letting them collect dust, I thought it would be nice to make quick gifts. The bases are 3.75" x 6.50" and are made from bookboard.
So, if you have a stash of tags, perhaps mount them in a clever way and put them to good use, then go join Tim as he continues with his 12 Tags this year.

I really can't believe it is December all ready and Christmas is just around the corner. I did finish up about 50 cards this year. Most of them very simple. These cards were made using an old PSX stamp and Tombow markers on watercolor paper. I chose non-traditional Christmas colors and added a little bling.
I have a few Christmas cards and Tim Holtz tag hangers to share this year, one day at a time.

There was a challenge last month at the Gingersnap Creation site to make a paper quilt and then create art using the paper. If you go to Mccallsquilting.com there is a plethora of wonderful quilting patterns. I used the Crystals pattern to create this quilt.
The paper are from Echo Park. I chose a simple pattern and was glad that I did. For my project, I made color copies of the paper and saved my masterboard.
I signed up for a swap to make pennants for a Christmas banner that will spell JOY. I created the three J's for this project. I decided that a quilt should have a little sewing on it, so I got out my machine and did a little outline sewing on the paper.
This is my finished pennant, that went in the mail this week to my swap partners.

I made a couple variations for my partners and myself. The scraps were used to create a few cards. The first J's I made, were not large enough for this project, but worked great for cards.
I was too late to enter the challenge, but it was a creative blast for me. I've traveled so much this fall, my creative mojo was in a slump.
Changing subjects here...I've never liked my blogspot background since I've changed it...anyone have any suggestions?

The second tutorial for our Christmas in July, is a simple acrylic paint resist technique. Have you ever purchased a stamp that you just didn't know what to do with it? Well, perhaps get it out for this technique. For the purpose of demonstration, and because I love simplicity, I am only using two stamps on the card. You may choose to use several. Experiment and play!
I used these stamps from Inkadinkadoo. The image is so frilly, and the technique is quite rustic, striking a nice balance don't you think?
Choose cardstock, whatever color you would like you image to be, this will be the background paper for this technique. A heavier cardstock is recommended. I chose to use a heavy red cardstock. You'll also need your favorite brand of clear embossing ink, clear embossing powder, stamps of your choice and acrylic paint.
Cut your cardstock to whatever size your card will be. Use the clear embossing ink to stamp your image(s) and then clear emboss. This will act as a resist for the image. After the embossed area has cooled down, it's time to make a mess. Get out a 1/2" or 1" paint brush and start brushing paint all over the top of the cardstock, and over the stamped image. I chose to brush in one direction, but experiment going in different directions if you like.
IMPORTANT: Let the paint dry naturally. Do not heatset the paint to dry it quicker, or your embossing powder will re-melt and the technique won't work. When I was making these I just set up an assembly line of a few cards and by the time I finished painting the last one, the first one was dry. Take a rag, or a baby wipe that is damp and gently remove the paint from the embossed image. I don't recommend letting the paint sit overnight, or it may be more difficult to remove.
Now it's time to finish/embellish this card in your own personal style. This technique is fun to use in a variety of your other projects also.

There is going to be a Christmas in July cyber crop this weekend at Paper Artists Online. Several challenges will be offered; scrapbooking, card making and other paper arts. I was asked to prepare tutorials for a few cards and will be sharing them with you this weekend on my blog.
